Philip Farrugia graduated with First Class honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malta in 2001. He joined the Dept. of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering (DIME) at the University of Malta in 2001, as a Research Assistant working on a project entitled 'Rapid Prototyping During Early Design (RAPID)'. In February 2003, he was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer in Manufacturing Processes and Methodologies. Philip obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2008 on research carried out at the Concurrent Engineering Research Unit, DIME. The research is related to Paper-based Computer-Aided Form Sketching and contributed a novel sketching language enabling designers and other users to automatically translate their form concepts sketched on paper into three-dimensional virtual models.
