I graduated from the University of Malta in 2004, where I followed a course leading to the Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. I received technical training from ST Microelectronics (Malta) and Medelec Switch Gears (Malta) where I was employed as a student engineer in 2002 and 2004 respectively. Upon graduation, I was employed as a Postgraduate trainee with the University of Malta, where my work was mainly related to developing image processing tools for line drawing interpretation systems. This allowed me to complete my post-graduate studies at a Master's level in this area. In January 2008, I was employed as an assistant lecture with the Department of Systems and Control Engineering. In 2008 I served as a secretary to the IEEE Malta Student branch committee and I am also a member of the Degree Plus committee for professional development for postgraduates. I am currently involved in InPro, a joint research project between the departments of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and Control Systems Engineering. My research relates in developing image processing techniques for interpretation of paper-based scribbles, in order to aid the automatic CAD conversion of such scribbles into virtual 3D models.
