The department of Microelectronics offers a taught MSc course in VLSI. The modules offered during the two year course are the following:
ELE 511 CMOS Analogue Integrated Circuit Design
The module considers analysis and design of op amps, operational transconductance amplifiers, comparators, linear active filters, switched-capacitor techniques, microsystems and sensor interfacing circuitry, and reviews also analogue implementation of neural networks.
ELE 512 Integrated D/A and A/D Conversion Techniques
The module considers different techniques and circuit topologies for integrated Analogue to Digital and Digital to Analogue converters. An overview of testing and measurement of converter specifications is also included.
ELE 521 VLSI Technology
The module develops a detailed understanding of the processes used in monolithic integrated circuit silicon fabrication, including packaging, with particular emphasis on CMOS process integration.
